John Nauer, 53, of Brecksville, Ohio, passed away February 12, 2024.
He died surrounded by his wife, Debbie, and children, Joe, Sarah, and Jack.
John was born on December 26, 1970 to Joseph (deceased) and Elieen Nauer,
brother to Sherrie Fehn, Jerry Nauer, Francis Nauer, Wanda Smith, Doug Nauer,
and Tammy Nauer (deceased). A beloved rugger at Ohio University, where he earned
his nickname “Shotzie''. It was here that he met his favorite Bobcat of 26 years.
Even before John's diagnosis of ALS, he lived and taught many around him to live for the moment
and leave no regrets. He was stubborn, hardworking, optimistic, and refused to let the ALS take control
of the time he had left. He lived his remaining days with love and positivity and continued to start every day
with a smile on his face. He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with friends and family.
To quote John’s toast:
“Here’s a toast to you and to me, that we may never disagree. But if we do, then fuck you and here’s to me”.
The memorial mass will be held at 10 am Saturday, February 17, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Church
in Canton, Ohio (2427 Tuscarawas St W, Canton, OH 44708).
A celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
