JOSEPH W. CHUHRAN

Joe, age 66, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2020 with his loving sister, Kathy, at his side.

Joe was born on January 26, 1954 in Cleveland to Joseph and Virginia Chuhran. Along with his siblings

Ray, and Kathy Polensek, Joe is survived by his brother Al, nephews Andrew Polensek, Joe Chuhran and

John Chuhran, and loving cousins Al and Frankie Figer. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother John

and his many aunts and uncles. Joe was a “tough” Collinwood guy back in the day and that strength carried with him

throughout his life and through his battle with lung cancer where he fought fearlessly to the end. Anyone that knew

Joe knew that tough exterior always held a kind, gentle and loving heart. Joe attended Holy Redeemer Catholic

Elementary and Collinwood High School. Joe was a gifted and talented artist, and would create 3-D clay caricature sculptures

of his co-workers, who called him “Pops,” where he was he was employed at the City of Cleveland Water Pollution Control

as a Service Sewer Worker for over 25 years. In his younger years, Joe enjoyed the sport of boxing where he trained at the

Alta House in Murray Hill and competed in a Golden Gloves championship. Fishing was his passion and he looked forward

to spending just about every weekend finding his ideal locations to reel them in and then return them right back to their

water home. He had an unconditional love and genuine caring for all of his pets throughout his life, and he would find peace

in knowing his surviving four legged companion, “Fluff,” will now be lovingly cared for by his brother Ray. A memorial Mass

will be held some time in the summer at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, and a private interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery

where he will be laid to rest alongside his loving Mom and Dad. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to

The Hospice of Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland 44110, or the Cleveland Animal Protective League,

1729 Willey Ave., Cleveland 44113.
