born in Youngstown, OH on November 12, 1930, passed away on December 21, 2021 in Cleveland, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Jeanette Orofino, and wife, Dorothy Janosik Orofino.
He attended Liberty High School in Youngstown, OH and resided there until his marriage. He attended Kent State University
and received a full scholarship to Cornell University where he received his Ph.D in Research Chemistry.
He lived in Holland for a year with his wife on a student grant. Upon returning, he was employed by Monsanto Chemicals
and worked on many projects including the development of Astro-Turf. After his retirement, Tom and his wife moved to
Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he taught Chemistry at The University of Tennessee. Tom traveled around the world
and was in every state in the US. He was kind to all and was known to guide young children in math in downtown Chattanooga.
Tom was a very learned man as demonstrated by his work in physics, mathematics and his understanding of Einstein's Theory of Relativity.
He will be missed by all, especially his sisters, Jacqueline Chambers, Boca Raton , FL, and Mary Previte, South Euclid, OH, and nieces and
nephews, Toni Mullee (OH), Chris Previte (OH), Annette Herbster (OH), Barb Massena (AZ), Chris Fisher (OH), Lee Fahey (FL), John Dahl, (Canada),
Dolores Byrnes (NY), Laura Dull (NY), David Dull (NC) and Randy Dull (deceased).
