AUGUST S. “BUD” PECNIK JR., age 75; beloved husband of
Helena (nee Nastasi); loving father of Renne Caress (Teal);
devoted grandfather of Helena August; loving son of Gus and
Audrey (nee McLafferty) (both deceased); dear brother of
June Flint (Bob). Throughout his life, Bud enjoyed a wide variety
of interests. In his younger years he became a certified SCUBA diver and
served in the U.S. Navy.
As an accomplished ice skater, Bud became a hockey coach.
His love for coaching and hockey led him to thrive as a coach for Euclid Youth
Hockey for 10 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding around in his convertible
with the top down, usually to the lake. He loved living and being near Lake Erie
and often could be seen walking along its shores collecting beach glass.
Professionally, Bud served as Bailiff under Judge Niccum in the
Euclid Court System for many years. Always a man of vast political knowledge and love for
history, he served as Committee Chairman for the Republican Party.
Bud was social, outgoing and a gifted storyteller. He had a special talent for making new friends
in any situation. Ever honest, he was a man who rooted for the underdog and always eager
to help anyone in need.
An avid lover of animals and nature, Bud rescued many cats and dogs throughout his life
and even fed the squirrels daily. Any animal fortunate to be rescued by Bud was sure to enjoy
a life equal to paradise. Above all, Bud will always be remembered by all who knew him as a man
of unequivocal loyalty to his family and friends. Honest and dependable, his love and commitment to
family were his number one priority. Since her birth, the shining star of
Bud’s life was his two-year-old granddaughter, Helena.
Bud was a content man, one who did not require a lot to keep him happy. To honor Bud’s life,
love your family deeply, coach a child to learn something new, rescue a pet, embrace nature or
volunteer your time, as he has always done.
