Dana Rieley Armington passed away peacefully on
October 1, 2024. She was the beloved daughter of
Steven E. and Barbara (née Burry) Armington, the
cherished sister of Meagan and Bobbi Armington and
Doug (Leah) Schermetzler, and a loving aunt to Cole
and Walker Langworthy, SJ Georgeson and Emily and
James Schermetzler. Dana leaves behind her loving family
as well as countless friends she considered family.
Dana had a wonderfully creative spirit, with a deep love for music,
especially live shows—and all forms of art. She was fiercely intelligent,
holding a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia College Chicago, but her
wisdom and insight went far beyond her 39 years.
She lived for adventure—whether it was attending concerts, setting
out on road trips, or deep-sea fishing. She especially loved spending
time in the Adirondack mountains. Dana had the rare ability to enjoy
herself anywhere, from dancing at the Union Club in downtown
Cleveland to wandering the midway at the Athens County Fair in
rural southeast Ohio. What mattered most was sharing those experiences
with her people.
Dana’s heart was as big as her adventurous spirit. She adored her pets,
including several dogs and cats throughout her life. She formed friendships
in every place she lived: Cleveland and Dayton, OH; Old Forge and
Oneonta, NY; Chicago, IL; Key Largo, FL; and Savannah, GA. She loved
connecting the different circles of friends she made along the way.
Her family is deeply saddened by the loss of their Daughter,
Sister, Cousin, and Auntie. They find comfort in knowing she
has been reunited on the other side with her father, Steve, with
whom she shared a truly special bond.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date and time.
