George entered the U.S. Army on December 10, 1957 and was discharged on December 9, 1963,
serving as radio communications chief. As a licensed professional engineer, he worked for more than
three decades in electrical/electronic engineering, technical training, and documentation.
After working as a radio engineer in the commercial broadcasting, he led the electronics department at
Electric Technology Institute (ETI), Cleveland, Ohio, for many years, where his students enjoyed his
lively humor and gift for teaching. George wrote training manuals for the switchgear on San Francisco’s BART
(Bay Area Regional Transit) substations. He authored and co-authored several textbooks including
“Solid-State Electronics,” “Operational Amplifiers,” and “Integrated Circuit Operational Amplifiers.”
Several of his books were translated into three foreign languages. He was proud to be a lifetime member
of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).
George was an earnest yet modest and reserved man. He was interesting and curious, and he passed on many gifts
to his family, friends, students and especially his daughters. He loved nature and spent many hours hiking at
Cleveland’s renowned Metroparks. He had a natural rapport with all kinds of animals. He was an avid sailor,
enjoying small lakes, like LaDue Reservoir, and our beautiful Lake Erie. He appreciated art and loved
classical music and opera.
Those who knew him treasured his thoughtful conversations and endearing sense of humor.
