It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to
our beloved father.
Joseph A. Purpura was born on July 23, 1932 to Joseph and Nancy (nee Pinto).
He grew up in Collinwood where he met his childhood sweetheart
Marietta Bibbo “Bea”. He graduated from Collinwood High School
and enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving in the Korean War.
Upon discharge in 1954, he returned home to marry Marietta.
They had three children Deana, Patricia and Nicolas.
While working at Graphite Bronze, he attended classes at Western
Reserve University, which led to his career in Interior Design.
His artistic talent was displayed in many beautiful homes and
various venues, including his beloved Holy Redeemer Church and
his pride and joy Redeemer on the Avenue.
Joe loved entertaining and hosting parties for family and friends in
his beautiful home.
In their later years Joe and Marietta enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas,
California, Hawaii, Hong Kong, Thailand and many casinos throughout
the United States. They enjoyed weekly card games with their friends.
Joe lost his beloved wife of 53 years, Bea in 2008, loving father of
Deana (Nick Previte), Patricia and the late Nicolas. Special dad to Michele.
Dear brother of John (Mary) (both deceased). Uncle Joey
cherished his nieces, Alberta Federico (Michael),
Carmen Marie Austin (Robert) and Nancy Burns (Dave),
nephews Jim, John (Julie) and Joe (Rosamary).
Great uncle, great great uncle, cousin, Godfather and Compare
to many. Special friend to Fr. Marty Polito.
Memories of our dad’s kindness, generosity and everlasting love
for his family and friends will forever remain in the hearts of those
who loved him.
