Marcia L. DeRenzo

It is with profound sadness that we share the sudden passing

of our dearest mother, Marcia L. DeRenzo, age 83 years old

of West Park.  

Dearest sister of Dennis (Nanette); dearest mother to sons

Sean P. (Victoria) and Rick. Dearest grandmother to Ashley Smerk,

Tessa Bailey, Terra (Richard) Hixson and great grandmother to many.

Proceeded in death by her parents Patsy and Lena ( nee Lombardo).

Marcia graduated from Brush High School in 1960 and later St. Johns

School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse until she retired,

in 2010 from St. John West Shore Hospital in Westlake.

Marcia was very active in PTA, holding the Presidency of Lincoln Elementary,

and Lakewood PTA Council. She was a legislative assistant to the Ohio

PTA as well. In her years with the PTA, Marcia wrote two pieces of

legislation which in over time, were voted into laws in Ohio. Marcia was also

a active pioneer in Women’s Softball, passionately coaching teams that went

to State and National Championships. She also started The Women’s Softball

League of Lakewood. Her greatest Honor was coaching the Senior Women’s

Softball team in 2018, finishing second place overall.

Marcia was inducted into the Ohio Senior Olympic, Senior Women’s

Hall of Fame in 2013 and The Lakewood Umpires Hall of Fame in 2005.

Marcia also served  as a  High School Sport Official for Softball, Volleyball

and Basketball. Marcia was a avid MLB Indians fan and a passionate

Dog-Mom to many German Shepards over the years. Marcia had a great

passion for all her grandchildren, great grandchildren, love of her sport,

her career in nursing and many close fiends over the years,

She will be sadly missed by many.

Prayers of Christian Burial 12:30 PM Saturday November 8,

At the Funeral Home. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. The
