William E. “Bill” Young, Jr., passed away on April 26th, 2022 with his family by his side.
Beloved husband of Yoshiko, loving father of Michelle Corello (Eddie), Monique Accetta (Bob),
William E. Young, III (deceased); devoted Grandpa to Bill (Faye), Samantha (Josh), Michael (Christina),
and AJ; Great-Grandpa to Emmett, Graham, and Rowen. Loving Son of the late William & Ruth Young;
dear brother of Marie Lomis (deceased) husband Jim; devoted uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Bill was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 24, 1942. A graduate of Eastlake North High School in 1960.
He enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Japan where he married the love of his life. He was honorably
discharged in November of 1963. Bill began a career in law enforcement in March of 1964 with the City of
Willoughby Police Department. He retired in June of 1990 as a Lieutenant, Community Involvement and
Public Relations Officer. During his career, he was sworn in as McGruff, the Crime Fighting Dog. Bill loved
working with children, he ran Safety Town and taught D.A.R.E. in the Willoughby-Eastlake school system.
He continued his career at Lake County Narcotics as a D.A.R.E officer in schools in Lake County until 1996.
He and Yoshiko retired to Florida where they enjoyed playing golf, going to the beach, and making new friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather for a Memorial Mass 10:30am Saturday, June 25th at Holy Redeemer Church,
15712 Kipling Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110, where the family will receive friends at 10:00 am until time of Mass.
A Celebration of Life will follow at 12:00 pm at St. John Vianney Father Kline Center, 7575 Bellflower Rd., Mentor, OH
44060.
