Michael R. Russell

Michael Richard Russell, passed way on October 2, 2022 at his home in Mentor, Ohio surrounded by his loving family. Mike was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia at the beginning of June but had not felt well for many months before. He made many visits to the doctor and was in and out of the hospital for months trying to fight the AML beast. He woke up every day with fight and dignity despite all the set backs that this blood cancer threw at him. There were moments when he felt like there was no hope but he kept fighting for all of us. He spent so much time in the hospital trying to be cured but in the end all he wanted to do was come home. We made that happen for him and it was a difficult time for all of us but also beautiful. Each one of his loved ones had moments to cherish memories, let him know how loved he was and ask for advise and wisdom that only he could give. We were all able to share in a prayer as a family led by his brother Steve which ultimately led him to peacefully depart amongst everyone he loved.

Mike was married to his wife Jeaneen Russell on July 11, 2019. They were together for seven years and were the definition of soul mates.

He was so proud of his three children and loved them with his whole heart. They shared a forever bond that will never be forgotten. He was so proud of them and the friendship they developed between them all. He always said “they are all best friends” and that made him so happy.

Mike’s Step children, Jordan, Luke and Anthony will also miss him dearly. He has changed their lives in ways they are still processing and soaking in his words of wisdom 

He is the son of Teresa (Keating) Russell and late Richard T (Dick) Russell.  Brother Steven Russell(Judy), sister Jami Sundberg (Gene):nephews and nieces Matt Sundberg(Elizabeth) and their son Grant, Brian Sunberg (Liz), Katie Jones (Nic) Jefff Russell (Jessica) and Dave Russell, his Aunt Judy Burk and many cousins.  

He also is missed by Jeaneen’s Family including her parents Jaye and Al Rossi, sister Christa (Sam) Daly , brother Anthony Rossi and Morgan , Nicholas, Mackenzie, Quinn, Kelsey and Teagan.

Mike was very successful in his career as a pharmaceutical/ Medical device representative but never allowed work to rule his life. He lived his life to enjoy every moment and make sure every one around him was trying to do the same. He was very intelligent but never one to brag. He understood a little bit of everything and made it his goal to learn how to communicate with everyone in every language. As I sit at his desk, he has a list of how to say hello in every language alphabetized “Just in Case”

Mr Michael Russell will be missed by so many because he was one of a kind. A beam of light that lit up every room he entered with his smile and insane energy.

Please join us on November 28, 2022 at 5 PM at the Beachland Ballroom for a celebration of life. (He worked there as a security guard from time to time and loved being in the mix of it all)

There will be music, food, open mics to share stories and most of all a time to laugh in his memory because that’s what he wanted.
